Berkshire Brewing Holidale 2019

The holiday season is in full swing, I hope everyone is looking forward to some time with family and friends, some relaxation and some delicious beers. I am done with work until after the New Year, my Christmas shopping (and most of my wrapping) is done, and I am really looking forward to some quality family time and some rest (well, as much rest as possible when home with two young kiddos) over the next couple weeks. On Friday I took a trip to Craft Beer Cellar in Westford and stocked up the beer fridge ahead of the holidays, with a focus on some dark and malty beers. One of the beers I grabbed was the 2019 version of Holidale, a seasonal release from Berkshire Brewing Company that is brewed with a different recipe each year. This year’s release is a blend of an aged imperial dark ale and a freshly fermented blonde barleywine. Berkshire Brewing Company Holidale 2019 is available for a limited time on draft and in 12 oz cans.

BBC Holidale 2019

Berkshire Brewing Holidale 2019 pours deep reddish-brown with a small off-white head. The aroma features rich roasted malts. The malt leads the flavor too, notes of caramel, raisin, cherry, and chocolate. This is balanced by some hop flavor, touches of herbs and orange peel. Holidale 2019 is a full-bodied sipper, and is a pretty big beer at 9.5% ABV. The finish is rich with some lingering malt flavor and boozy sweetness. This version of Holidale is perfect for the winter holidays, a bold and flavorful treat to keep you warm on a cold winter night! Hoppy Boston score: 4.5/5.
