Best Beers Reviewed: Fall 2013

Three months into Hoppy Boston and I thought it would be an appropriate time to give a quick roundup of the best beers I’ve reviewed in the last three months. Fortunately this three month stretch nicely aligns with the fall season, so this also acts as a recap for the fall. Needless to say these aren’t all fall beers, just beers I reviewed from September to November and enjoyed. Check the links for a full review:

Pretty Things Meadowlark IPA: Everything you love about American hops and IPA, solid bitterness and tons of citrus flavors. Hop-forward but restrained and balanced. The kind of IPA that will satisfy hop-heads and newbies alike. So glad this is a year round beer now, I have a hard time passing when it’s on the draft list. http://wp.me/p3TEvn-2x

Idle Hands Triplication: Amazing American take on the Belgian Abbey Tripel style. Great balance between the esters from the yeast, the American hops and the malt backbone. This beer is so easy to drink at 9% ABV its deliciously dangerous. http://wp.me/p3TEvn-38

Boulevard Dark Truth Stout: Dark, malty, rich, with a hint of warming alcohol. Great beer to sip on a cold winter night. http://wp.me/p3TEvn-1g

Mystic Vinland Two Saison: Fermented with yeast isolated from wild Maine blueberries. Won the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival. Tons of flavor but still crisp and easy to drink. http://wp.me/p3TEvn-2J

Maine Beer Co/Allagash/In’finiti 2013 Ale: Maine Beer Co. is famous for their hop-forward American ales and Allagash is known for their Belgian style beers. This is a perfect mix of the two, bursts of fresh hop flavors combine with fruity esters from the Belgian yeast. Great to see creative collaborations from great Maine breweries. http://wp.me/p3TEvn-4i
